The BJP MP argued that the state government cannot abdicate its responsibility by waiting for a committee report while collecting thousands of crores in tax. According to Bommai, the current crisis stems from a failure to periodically revise the Minimum Support Price over the years, forcing a difficult, sudden adjustment that now requires a nationwide perspective. He emphasized that the state must address systemic issues, including weighing discrepancies and recovery rates, which continue to disadvantage farmers.
Beyond agricultural policy, Bommai pivoted to state politics by demanding a CBI investigation into a recent sting operation involving cabinet ministers. He asserted that the state administration lacks the impartiality to probe the matter, claiming the Chief Minister’s involvement has created an environment of anxiety. He called for a thorough inquiry to uncover the orchestrators behind these unethical tactics, arguing that political opposition should be conducted through transparent channels rather than clandestine schemes.
