The family’s protest reached a breaking point on Thursday after Delhi Police detained them at 4:00 AM during an overnight sit-in at India Gate. Following their release from the Tilak Marg Police Station, the parents publicly questioned the timing of the gubernatorial appointment, linking it to unresolved allegations involving the accused. They are demanding that authorities disclose location data and call records for the period of September 18–19, 2022, and have criticized the Special Investigation Team for failing to recover a mobile phone belonging to key suspect Pulkit Arya.
Beyond the appointment, the family is pressing for a full explanation regarding the demolition of the resort where Ankita worked, arguing that the site should have been preserved for evidence. Activist Yogita Bhayana, who joined the family, questioned the urgency of the appointment given the active status of the CBI probe. The 19-year-old victim’s body was recovered from the Chilla Canal on September 24, 2022, five days after she was reported missing. The parents insist that their struggle is a broader fight for justice, urging citizens to stand with them until the investigation reaches a transparent conclusion.
