Govindan confirmed that the party is currently reviewing the recent court verdict to determine its next move. While the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered two FIRs naming the Chief Minister and his daughter, T. Veena, the CPI(M) leadership maintains that the government’s decision not to file an appeal signals a deeper procedural complexity. Govindan stated that the party remains prepared to challenge the FIRs through available legal channels, asserting that the proceedings are being driven by a political agenda linked to the BJP’s broader strategy.
The UDF’s persistent calls for the Chief Minister’s resignation were brushed aside by Govindan as a tired, meaningless political slogan. He specifically targeted opposition leader VD Satheesan, accusing his camp of aligning with the ED to destabilize the state administration. As the legal battle intensifies, the cases—which involve allegations of illicit monthly payments and hawala transactions—remain at the center of a heated dispute over the independence of investigative agencies in Kerala.
