The Union Minister’s remarks follow the detention of a worker from the JDS IT wing, an action he describes as an act of intimidation. Kumaraswamy claims this individual was seized by plainclothes officers and held in an undisclosed location without access to legal counsel or family. He argues that if the government is truly seeking the source of leaked Cabinet proceedings, the inquiry should begin within the Chief Minister’s own office rather than targeting political opponents.
Beyond the phone investigation, Kumaraswamy pressed the Chief Minister to explain his private visit to the Shangri-La Hotel and his associations with media figures, specifically Rakesh Shetty. He questioned why law enforcement has failed to seize electronic devices from Shetty or pursue a formal arrest. Challenging Home Minister G. Parameshwara and Congress leaders to move beyond rhetoric, Kumaraswamy called for an inquiry led by a sitting judge. He dismissed the prospect of a CBI probe, insisting on judicial oversight, and declared his readiness to face any investigation into his own conduct if the government is prepared to do the same.
