Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit welcomed the police notice, asserting that foreign nationals must understand their legal limitations before engaging in domestic political activity. Pandit characterized the actor's actions as a potential effort to defame the country, suggesting that those without citizenship should refrain from creating unrest. The actor was briefly detained by authorities on Saturday, later posting a photo from a police van with the caption, “Apparently I’m going for a drive.”
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya initiated the push for deportation, formally requesting that police charge the actor for violating the terms of his Overseas Citizen of India status. Somaiya accused Khan of engaging in political extremism and submitted evidence of the actor's speeches to law enforcement. Conversely, activist Abhijit Dipke criticized the move as hypocritical, pointing to the contrasting public reception of other foreign nationals who speak in support of the ruling party. Khan maintains that he attended the protest as a resident of Mumbai, questioning the restrictions placed on his freedom of movement.
