The bank’s ability to attract external funding has expanded by 213% since 2021, an increase of $8.3 billion in annual capital. This surge stems from the IDB Group’s institutional transformation under the IDBImpact+ initiative, which prioritizes catalytic financing and private sector engagement. IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn noted that mobilizing private resources is critical to scaling regional growth, generating employment, and fostering long-term prosperity.
To achieve these results, the group has leaned heavily on expanded guarantee programs and advisory services for public-private partnerships. IDB Invest, the group’s private sector arm, has simultaneously pushed its 'Originate-to-Share' model, which streamlines the distribution of financing opportunities to a wider pool of global investors. Looking ahead, the institution plans to adopt the MDB Joint Methodologies in future reports, a transition designed to provide greater transparency by incorporating broader metrics for private finance generation and the impact of innovative financial tools.
