Brittas, a petitioner in the case, has drawn the court’s attention to his own alleged detention by Delhi Police and CRPF personnel. The Chief Justice of India elevated his personal complaint to an interlocutory petition, linking it directly to the broader INDIA bloc legal challenge. The opposition alliance seeks a rigorous judicial audit of the Election Commission’s recent decisions, questioning their alignment with Article 324 of the Constitution and established legal precedents set in T.N. Seshan vs Union of India.
The petition, registered as W.P.(C) No. 001351/2026, stems from a "March for Democracy" led by opposition figures earlier in October. Beyond the technicalities of the electoral roll revision, the legal discourse aims to address alleged arbitrary police actions in the capital. Brittas emphasized that the coalition intends to pursue both legal and political tracks to challenge what they characterize as a pattern of systemic suppression, asserting that the Supreme Court remains the final arbiter for protecting constitutional rights against administrative overreach.
