KTR Accuses Telangana Government of Sabotaging Singareni Collieries

Addressing a crowd of miners at Godavarikhani, Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao alleged that the Congress-led government is orchestrating the privatization of Singareni Collieries Company Limited. He pointed to a massive financial shortfall and unexplained coal losses as evidence of a deliberate campaign to destabilize the state-owned utility.

KTR Accuses Telangana Government of Sabotaging Singareni Collieries

The former minister claimed the state government owes approximately Rs 60,000 crore to the company, a debt he suggests is being used to cripple its operations under the guise of power shortages. Beyond the financial strain, KTR highlighted the mysterious disappearance of 40 lakh metric tonnes of coal, challenging authorities to explain the missing inventory. He explicitly linked these operational failures to the influence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s brother-in-law, Sudhini Srujan Reddy, alleging that irregular tenders for detonators and diesel procurement have become the new norm.

KTR also directed criticism toward Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy. He argued that the Centre, which holds a 49 percent stake in the enterprise, has abdicated its responsibility by asking the state to investigate itself rather than launching an independent inquiry. As tensions rise, the BRS leader is demanding the continuation of hereditary employment benefits and prompt profit-sharing for workers, warning that his party will lead a broader protest movement to prevent the firm from falling into private hands.
