Addressing reporters in the wake of mounting agitation against the Election Commission, Owaisi argued that no political entity holds a monopoly over the issue. He highlighted his party's active role, noting that AIMIM consistently challenged the process, including filing a petition with the Supreme Court. According to Owaisi, his party previously submitted a list of 1,000 names wrongly categorized under the Absent, Shifted, or Dead (ASD) list, questioning whether other opposition parties had taken similar concrete action.
The AIMIM leader further broadened his critique to address the legal immunity granted to Election Commissioners. He questioned the necessity of such protections, contrasting them with the accountability faced by other high-ranking officials, such as the Prime Minister or Home Minister. By raising these points in Parliament, Owaisi suggested that current legislation undermines the credibility of the Election Commission of India. Dismissing criticisms that his party’s independent strategy hinders broader opposition efforts, he maintained that AIMIM members remain committed to ground-level protests and legal advocacy, challenging his detractors to match their level of engagement.
