YSRCP Accuses Andhra Coalition of Manipulating Local Polls

Former ministers Kurasala Kannababu and Putta Siva Sankar claim the ruling coalition is weaponizing bureaucracy to stifle opposition candidates. They allege that local officials are deliberately stalling caste certificates or falsifying data to disqualify YSRCP aspirants, signaling a desperate attempt to avoid electoral defeat in the upcoming local body polls.

YSRCP Accuses Andhra Coalition of Manipulating Local Polls

The YSRCP leadership highlighted specific discrepancies in Visakhapatnam and Markapuram, where candidates reported their caste categories being altered from SC to BC or BC to OC. According to the party, these administrative hurdles are paired with police intimidation, as authorities reportedly summon strong opposition contenders to stations and initiate bind-over proceedings to keep them off the ballot.

Beyond these procedural obstacles, the party criticized the government for accelerating the election timeline during the holiday season. The YSRCP has issued an ultimatum, demanding that all pending caste certificates be processed within 24 hours. They maintain that these tactics reflect widespread public dissatisfaction with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s administration and his failure to deliver on campaign promises. The party warned that officials participating in these obstructions will face accountability once the political climate shifts.
