Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Choudhary described the demolition as a standard administrative response to unauthorized construction, emphasizing that the heavy security presence was intended to maintain public order. However, the scene quickly spiraled as a Nihang Sikh, speaking to onlookers, declared that the burning of the suspect’s property was a preview for all drug peddlers in Punjab. He urged the public to bypass traditional channels and rally behind jailed leader Amritpal Singh to eradicate the narcotics trade entirely.
Simultaneously, the political fallout intensified as Manjit Kaur, a relative of an associate of Amritpal Singh, alleged she was forcibly detained by police in Tarn Taran to prevent her from traveling to Mansa to honor the deceased activist. While the state government faces mounting pressure from opposition parties over law and order, police maintain that the killing was rooted in personal enmity. The National Human Rights Commission has now intervened, demanding an official report on the murder and calling for enhanced protections for activists fighting the state's pervasive drug crisis.
