Yogi Adityanath honors Ram Nath Kovind at autobiography launch

From the modest surroundings of Paraunkh village to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Ram Nath Kovind’s trajectory reflects a lifetime of overcoming personal adversity. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underscored this journey on Tuesday, celebrating the former President’s life story detailed in his new autobiography, Triumph of the Indian Republic.

Adityanath recounted the early hardships faced by Kovind, who lost his mother during childhood and navigated a path through village schooling to higher education. The Chief Minister noted that the former President never allowed these circumstances to become an excuse, instead leveraging his legal background to advocate for India’s marginalized communities. During the launch event, Adityanath traced the arc of a career that saw Kovind serve as a Rajya Sabha member, Governor of Bihar, and eventually the 14th President of India from 2017 to 2022.

Born in October 1945, Kovind built his professional reputation as a lawyer in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court before shifting into full-time politics with the Bharatiya Janata Party. His public service record includes over a decade in the Rajya Sabha and, more recently, leadership of the High-Level Committee on One Nation, One Election. This latest work, My Life, My Struggles, documents the transition from his roots in Kanpur district to the pinnacle of constitutional authority.
