Dilip Ghosh Alleges Decades of Electoral Rigging in West Bengal

West Bengal leader Dilip Ghosh claims the state has lacked free and fair elections for five decades, arguing that recent political shifts demonstrate widespread historical vote theft. His remarks coincide with a escalating standoff involving security breach allegations surrounding former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at her Kalighat residence.

Dilip Ghosh Alleges Decades of Electoral Rigging in West Bengal

Ghosh contends that the electoral landscape in West Bengal remained compromised for half a century, preventing citizens from exercising their franchise without interference. He pointed to recent polling data as evidence, noting that a party previously in power for 15 years failed to secure even 3 percent of the vote once independent oversight improved. During the same briefing, he dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s political commentary, suggesting the Congress leader lacks practical experience.

The political temperature rose further following a complaint filed by Trinamool Congress MP Dola Sen regarding an alleged knife attack on Mamata Banerjee. Sen alleges that an intoxicated intruder, identified as civic volunteer Tannishtha Saha, breached the high-security perimeter of the former Chief Minister’s home. Ghosh questioned the veracity of these claims, suggesting that such narratives are frequently manufactured to distract the public. Local authorities are currently investigating the incident under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
