The arrests occurred during a demonstration near the historic site, where activists were taken into custody for unfurling the Tricolour. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke confirmed the judicial remand and challenged the government to abandon what he described as hidden tactics of suppression. Dipke argued that the state is attempting to stifle dissent through intimidation rather than engaging with legitimate grievances.
While the CJP’s recent agitation specifically targets Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities, the group maintains a shared ideological front with the INDIA bloc. Dipke clarified that while their objectives align regarding the current administration, the CJP will operate strictly as an independent pressure group, resisting any formal merger with mainstream political parties. Gandhi echoed this sentiment, declaring that the space at Jantar Mantar belongs to the Indian public and pledging to reclaim the right to peaceful protest.
