Rubio Sets October Tour to Uzbekistan and India to Bolster Energy Ties

Secretary of State Marco Rubio heads to Samarkand and India from October 17-22, leading a delegation of 200 business leaders. The trip focuses on cementing the U.S.-India strategic partnership while expanding diplomatic engagement with Central Asian nations through the C5+1 ministerial platform to drive regional economic growth.

In Samarkand, Rubio will meet with counterparts from the five Central Asian republics to advance the C5+1 diplomatic agenda. This engagement seeks to deepen cooperation across the region, emphasizing stability and mutual economic prosperity. The accompanying business delegation marks a push to integrate U.S. commercial interests more firmly into the Central Asian market.

Following the Uzbekistan leg, Rubio shifts focus to Mumbai and Jamnagar. His visit to Jamnagar highlights the significance of Reliance’s refinery, the world's largest single-site facility processing 1.4 million barrels of crude oil daily. This stop follows President Donald Trump’s March announcement regarding a 300 billion dollar investment in a new Texas refinery, a project slated for Brownsville that involves a direct partnership with Reliance Industries. Beyond energy, Rubio aims to engage Indian government officials and corporate leaders to secure new investment channels and discuss the evolving global security landscape.
