UP Congress Chief Alleges Voter Disenfranchisement in INDIA Bloc Protest

Claiming that 13 crore citizens have been removed from electoral rolls, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Aradhana Misra Mona declared on Tuesday that the right to vote remains the bedrock of Indian democracy, warning that systemic disenfranchisement poses an existential threat to the nation's constitutional integrity.

Speaking during a nationwide opposition demonstration in the capital, Misra Mona accused the ruling administration of orchestrating mass voter deletions under the guise of initiatives like SVEEP. She labeled the INDIA bloc’s ongoing agitation a 'people's movement' that has moved beyond traditional partisan interests to address what she describes as a fundamental subversion of electoral rights.

The opposition alliance has escalated its challenge to the judiciary, with senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi formally presenting the case before the Supreme Court. The Congress party maintains that these irregularities are not isolated administrative errors but a deliberate attempt to curtail the voting power of millions, necessitating immediate intervention to preserve the democratic process.
