Gandhi framed the opposition’s current mobilization as a singular mission to restore democratic integrity, specifically targeting the Election Commission and recent restrictions on public dissent at Jantar Mantar. During a meeting at his residence, he warned that those responsible for undermining the constitutional framework would face accountability, singling out Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as a key figure in the perceived erosion of electoral processes.
Adding to the pressure, Kerala Minister Ramesh Chennithala escalated the attack on Gyanesh Kumar by citing a two-decade-old corruption case from Kumar’s tenure as Public Works Department secretary in Kerala. Chennithala confirmed that the state government is currently reviewing files related to these allegations, suggesting that the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Kerala would soon scrutinize the official's past conduct. The opposition alliance remains firm in its intent to challenge the government’s influence over independent institutions, marking a sharpening of rhetoric ahead of future parliamentary sessions.
