Italy and IDB Group Launch Investment Bridge for Latin America

Signed on the sidelines of the 2026 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, a new memorandum of understanding between the Inter-American Development Bank Group and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti creates a dedicated facility to bridge the gap between raw project proposals and actionable investment opportunities across Latin America.

The partnership aims to streamline the transition from initial concept to financial viability by integrating project identification, preparation, and capital mobilization into a single framework. By offering co-financing, risk-sharing arrangements, and technical assistance, the agreement allows both public and private sector operations to address the complexities of large-scale infrastructure development. This collaborative approach ensures that essential systems—ranging from energy and water management to sustainable logistics—receive the necessary support to move past the planning stage.

Strategic focus areas include critical minerals, biodiversity, and food security, reflecting a broad mandate to bolster regional economic resilience. To facilitate these goals, Italian firms will gain direct access to regional project needs through the IDB Group’s 'BID for the Americas' program. This initiative builds upon prior collaborations like the IDB LAC Minerals platform, formalizing a deeper commercial pipeline that connects Italian technology and expertise with the evolving infrastructure demands of Latin America and the Caribbean.
