The funding provides €20.5 million from each institution to outfit the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo in Pristina and six regional facilities with modern medical hardware. These upgrades include advanced CT scanners, ultrasound systems, and specialized operating-room technology designed to improve life-support services and emergency response times.

Health Minister Arben Vitia noted that the project aligns with the Health Sector Strategy 2025–2030, providing staff the necessary tools to improve patient outcomes. Complementing the loan, the European Union contributed a €1.25 million grant for feasibility studies, while the CEB provided an additional €750,000 for technical oversight. Finance Minister Hekuran Murati framed the agreement as a vital investment in citizen welfare and deepening cooperation with European partners. This project expands the EIB’s local portfolio, which has already directed nearly €400 million toward infrastructure and economic development in the region since the bank began its engagement.
