Samajwadi Party pivots to women-centric outreach ahead of 2027 UP polls

With the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections on the horizon, the Samajwadi Party has unveiled a Navratri-themed campaign aimed at consolidating the female electorate. By blending religious iconography with a catalog of past governance initiatives, the party is signaling a strategic pivot toward social welfare discourse.

The campaign features banners depicting Goddess Durga alongside slogans like “Samajwadi ki soch nirali, har beti bane shaktishali.” This visual messaging serves as a promotional vehicle for legacy schemes, including the 1090 Women Power Line, the Rani Laxmi Bai Award, and the Kanya Vidyadhan project. By highlighting these specific welfare pillars, the party seeks to remind voters of its previous policy priorities while framing its current political identity around female empowerment.

Simultaneously, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is intensifying his pressure on the ruling BJP. During a recent visit to Balia, he challenged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to contest the upcoming polls from Ayodhya, framing the suggestion as political advice rather than a direct dare. Beyond local contests, Yadav is escalating a broader institutional battle, alleging widespread fraud within the Special Intensive Revision process. He claims the existence of multiple fake entries per voter and has vowed to release evidence of electoral irregularities. This campaign is now spilling into the national arena, with INDIA bloc leaders marching toward the Supreme Court to demand the removal of Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over these transparency concerns.
