Bhandari detailed the encounter, asserting that Gandhi grabbed the woman by the shoulder and threw her to the ground. He characterized the behavior as aggressive, contrasting it with Gandhi’s public rhetoric regarding the protection of women’s rights. The BJP spokesperson also used the opportunity to attack the Congress leadership’s silence on separate harassment allegations involving a JNU professor, questioning the sincerity of the party’s "Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon" campaign.
BJP Delhi State Vice President Rajesh Bhatia reported that the journalist’s sister reached out for assistance on the night of the incident. According to Bhatia, the victim was pregnant at the time, which heightened the severity of the alleged physical trauma. Local BJP MLA Umang Bajaj, who visited the hospital alongside party colleagues, emphasized that public representatives hold a duty to engage with the press rather than resorting to physical intimidation. Bajaj urged the public, particularly the youth, to evaluate political leaders based on their conduct rather than their stated platforms, arguing that Gandhi’s actions directly contradicted his claims of upholding democratic values.
