Manik Saha targets former Left Front regime over Tripura's debt legacy

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha launched 21 development projects worth over Rs 40 crore in Unakoti district today, using the occasion to attack the previous Left Front administration. He claimed the state inherited a Rs 13,000 crore debt, branding the former government's promises of a golden era as fraudulent.

Addressing the gathering, Saha emphasized that his administration remains focused on rapid infrastructure expansion, particularly in education, health, and connectivity. He insisted that the so-called double-engine government is delivering tangible results, contrasting this with the opposition's alleged inaction. According to the Chief Minister, the previous regime squandered their opportunities, leaving the current administration to navigate financial hurdles and weather-related delays to reach the grassroots level.

Saha highlighted that the government is now drafting GIS master plans for 19 cities, including Agartala, alongside plans for new satellite towns in Dharmanagar and Udaipur. He urged the opposition to align with the state’s development trajectory rather than focusing on political agitation. The Chief Minister maintained that the welfare of farmers, youth, and women remains the primary benchmark for achieving a Srestha Tripura, framing the current work as a necessary investment for future generations.
