The workshop, held on 29–30 September 2026, focused on updating the Eastern Africa Power Pool Regional Power System Master Plan. Utilities examined the technical requirements for integrating generation capacity and transmission networks, emphasizing that regional cooperation hinges on the consistency of national inputs. Harrison Sungu of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited noted that refined data is critical to avoiding unjustified projections that could misdirect regional infrastructure development.
Organized by the African Development Bank Group and the EAPP General Secretariat, the initiative aligns with the broader Mission 300 goal of connecting 300 million people across Africa by 2030. EAPP Secretary General James Wahogo highlighted that reliable information remains the primary prerequisite for developing a shared vision for the power system. While this meeting does not finalize new infrastructure projects, it establishes the technical rigor required to transition from planning to actionable investment priorities.
