INDIA Bloc Defies CJI Rejection to Proceed with Supreme Court March

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stated the coalition respects the judicial protocol but remains steadfast in its protest against alleged electoral irregularities.

The opposition leaders were informed via email that their request for a meeting was rejected because the matter is already sub judice. Justice Kant advised the coalition to pursue their grievances through established legal channels by filing a formal petition. Despite this, the bloc has framed the upcoming demonstration as a critical movement to safeguard democratic values and constitutional rights.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor alleged that 130 million voters have been improperly removed from rolls by the Election Commission. He demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the suspension of the Special Intensive Revision exercise. Rahul Gandhi has issued a call for civil society and youth to join the protest, emphasizing a peaceful approach under the banner of "Daro mat" after police detained demonstrators during a previous rally on Saturday.

The protest has drawn sharp criticism from government officials. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar dismissed the opposition's actions, while Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta defended the police response, accusing the coalition of inciting chaos in the national capital. Undeterred, activists like Abhijeet Dipke have vowed to continue their agitation, challenging authorities to escalate enforcement measures.
