Balagopal, addressing reporters upon his return to Kerala, described how Vijayan and other senior figures were held in police jeeps for four hours, traversing the capital without clear destination or purpose. He characterized the events as a deliberate act of intimidation by the Union government, noting that public resentment is intensifying both within Kerala and across the nation.
Vijayan escalated the criticism by accusing the administration of violating Supreme Court mandates regarding the right to peaceful protest and freedom of movement. He detailed incidents where protesters, including CPI(M) general secretary and MP John Brittas, were allegedly assaulted or subjected to physical coercion. According to the former Chief Minister, detention vehicles were effectively repurposed as mobile lock-ups, where leaders were served only leftover rations meant for police personnel. Demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Vijayan labeled the current climate a 'police raj' and called for national mobilization to protect democratic foundations against what he described as state-sanctioned contempt of court.
