Jharkhand Congress Mobilizes Delhi Protest Over Electoral Roll Disputes

Jharkhand minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey and MLA Rajesh Kachhap are leading a contingent of Congress workers to New Delhi to challenge Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party alleges systemic irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, claiming the process undermines India's democratic foundations.

Tirkey questioned the political defense of the Election Commission, arguing that the body failed to address public concerns regarding the revision process. She suggested the controversy surrounding the electoral roll exercise had reached an international audience, casting doubt on the integrity of the nation's democratic institutions. The protest serves as an urgent call for transparency that the party claims has been conspicuously absent from the commission's recent conduct.

Rajesh Kachhap emphasized that local demonstrations across Jharkhand have already been underway to mobilize public support. Despite logistical hurdles, the party remains committed to reaching the capital to join the national protest. Kachhap described the effort as a necessary defense of the Constitution, framing the journey to Delhi as a non-negotiable responsibility for those who feel the current administration is weakening independent oversight mechanisms.
