The clash occurred as the party officially installed Aradhana Misra-Mona, a three-time MLA from Rampur Khas, to lead the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. While the leadership aims to project unity, the incident underscores the difficulty of managing internal dissent during a major reshuffle. Alongside Mona, the party appointed Saharanpur MP Imran Masood as working president, with Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad assuming roles as senior vice presidents.
Beyond the office brawl, Ajay Rai shifted focus to electoral controversies, alleging that the Special Intensive Revision of rolls systematically disenfranchised residents of slum settlements. He accused the Election Commission of bowing to government pressure, even as he pivoted to unrelated grievances regarding student examinations. For her part, Mona emphasized that her tenure will focus on grassroots consolidation and coordination with the Samajwadi Party within the INDIA bloc. Prominent party figures like Pramod Tiwari have publicly backed the transition, framing Mona’s rise—from local Panchayat member to state chief—as the necessary evolution to secure electoral success in 2027.
