In a formal letter to Commission Chairman Sardar Harjit Singh Grewal, the former Delhi MLA argued that the sanctity of the shrine was compromised by these partisan activities. Singh insisted that his grievance transcends party lines, maintaining that religious institutions must remain sanctuaries for prayer and service rather than venues for political agitation. He emphasized that the right to peaceful protest does not grant license to disregard the dignity of a place of worship.
The proposal submitted to the commission outlines a five-point agenda, including a demand for the Delhi Police to file an investigation into the incident. Singh requested that the commission seek formal reports from both law enforcement and the Gurdwara management to determine the extent of the disruption. He further called for the establishment of clear, enforceable guidelines to prevent future political misuse of religious premises.
Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, echoed these concerns, publicly condemning the disruption. Kalka accused local AAP legislators of exploiting the site for political gain, stating that such actions deeply offend the sentiments of the Sikh community. The committee maintains that the Gurdwara remains a space for spiritual solace, not a platform for electoral or ideological conflict.
