Paank Reports Two New Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan

Two men, Adil Baloch and Obaid, have vanished in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, prompting the Baloch National Movement’s human rights wing, Paank, to demand their immediate release. Both individuals were allegedly taken by the Pakistan Army in separate incidents in the Gwadar district, leaving their families without information regarding their current safety or location.

Adil Baloch was taken on February 15, 2026, from Babbershoor in Pasni. Months later, on July 7, 2026, Obaid was similarly removed from the same area. Paank reports that both men remain in custody at undisclosed locations, a pattern that continues to fuel deep unrest in the southwestern province. These cases are not isolated incidents but reflect a broader, systemic crisis in the region where families frequently report the sudden removal of relatives by security forces.

Data from the organization’s recent half-year report underscores the scale of the issue, documenting 556 enforced disappearances between January and June 2026 alone. While state authorities often attribute these security measures to ongoing militancy and political instability, human rights advocates maintain that the practice violates fundamental rights to liberty and due process. Paank continues to press for transparency, urging the government to disclose the fate of the missing men and put an end to the practice of holding detainees without legal recourse.
