Raut, speaking at a press conference, characterized the ongoing agitation as a fight for the survival of democracy. He highlighted the detention of former Chief Ministers and parliamentarians as evidence of a regime defined by police rule. The Shiv Sena leader specifically condemned the arrest of Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, in Mumbai, labeling the handling of his detention as shameful and demanding an apology from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Looking toward the national capital, Raut confirmed he will join protests called by Rahul Gandhi, signaling a readiness to face potential arrest or police intervention. He alleged that the government is failing to address public grievances while maintaining heavy security cordons around the residences of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Beyond the immediate protests, Raut predicted internal fractures within the BJP, claiming that the current administration faces an inevitable collapse by March.
