The challenge follows Yadav’s earlier suggestion that the Chief Minister should prove his popularity by contesting from the temple town. Rajbhar, chief of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, asserted that Adityanath has already accepted the premise. He pushed Yadav to step forward, offering an alternative venue in Zahoorabad should the SP chief feel intimidated by the Ayodhya constituency. Daya Shankar Singh echoed this sentiment, framing the move as a test of political courage for the opposition leader.
Yadav, speaking in Ballia, dismissed the characterization of his remarks as a mere challenge, insisting he offered political advice rooted in his critique of the current administration. He alleged that the residents of Ayodhya have faced discriminatory treatment, casting doubt on the government's development narrative. While the ruling alliance focuses on the electoral prospect of a head-to-head contest, Yadav maintained that the upcoming 2027 elections will result in a broader shift in the state's political landscape.
