Leading the Indian contingent, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh participated in critical debates regarding climate-related disasters in the Himalayan region, a motion championed by Nepal. During the proceedings, Lok Sabha MP Anurag Singh Thakur voiced India’s support for the emergency climate resolution and represented the nation’s interests within the Bureau of the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights. The delegation’s involvement spanned a wide array of technical and policy discussions. Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra engaged in panel sessions focused on UN conflict resolution mechanisms and evaluated candidates vying for the IPU presidency. Simultaneously, Lata Wankhede contributed to the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, specifically addressing the intersection of artificial intelligence and the evolving nature of global labor. The assembly also facilitated administrative exchanges, as the Rajya Sabha Secretary-General briefed international counterparts on India’s parliamentary budgeting processes within the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments. The event concluded with the delegation extending personal congratulations to Milton Dick, the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, following his successful election to lead the global parliamentary body.
