Kejriwal Calls for Protests Amid Allegations of Mass Voter Deletion

Arvind Kejriwal has called on citizens to gather at Jantar Mantar on October 10 to protest against alleged mass voter deletions under the oversight of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The AAP leader argues that the BJP is systematically purging opposition voters while populating rolls with fraudulent entries.

The demonstration faces significant institutional hurdles, as Delhi Police have officially denied permission for the assembly, citing short notice and potential law-and-order disruptions. Despite the rejection, activist Abhijeet Dipke of the Cockroach Janta Party confirmed that organizers intend to proceed with the protest regardless of legal authorization. Dipke invoked Article 19 of the Constitution, arguing that Jantar Mantar remains a designated protest site and that no state permission should be required to exercise democratic dissent against the Election Commission.

Kejriwal framed the October 10 event as a national imperative rather than a partisan grievance, confirming that he and his family will participate. The rally aims to demand the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, whom protesters hold responsible for the alleged electoral irregularities. Authorities have responded with heightened security measures, including restrictions on public transport and road access, which activists have characterized as an attempt to suppress youth mobilization and stifle legitimate criticism of the central government.
