Anand captured 13,358 votes, comfortably outpacing Indian National Congress contender E Vinayagam, who finished with 4,876. DMK candidate K Sethu trailed in third with 2,664 votes. The focus now shifts to Tamil Nadu, where the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party is signaling a strong performance in ongoing counts.
In the Madurantakam constituency, TVK’s K Maragatham Kumaravel holds an 8,160-vote lead over DMK rival I Paranthamen following six rounds of counting. Simultaneously, in the Dharapuram bypoll, TVK candidate P Sathyabama leads by 6,420 votes after twelve rounds. TVK supporters have already begun celebrations in Chennai and outside the Chengalpattu counting center, marking a significant push for the party in these vacant seats.
