Pilot, who serves as the AICC in-charge for Punjab, pointed to a surge in synthetic narcotics, specifically citing the rise of 'zombie drugs' that are devastating the state’s youth. According to the Congress leader, the current government has failed to contain this influx, allowing the drug trade to evolve into a doorstep delivery service facilitated by simple phone calls. He argued that the intersection of rampant criminality and addiction represents a failure of governance that has left citizens vulnerable.
The critique extended to the central government, specifically targeting Home Minister Amit Shah following his Jalandhar rally. Pilot dismissed the BJP’s 'Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra' as a failure, asserting that the party has been unable to prevent massive quantities of contraband from crossing the border. He questioned the credibility of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Home Affairs, suggesting that if federal agencies cannot secure the borders, their promises of a drug-free state remain hollow. For Pilot, the public's only remaining hope for stability lies with the Congress party.
