Bhandari’s remarks followed three days of demonstrations by opposition leaders, who gathered at Raj Ghat after being blocked from marching to the Nirvachan Sadan and Jantar Mantar. The BJP leader characterized the Congress party’s actions as a desperate attempt to manufacture a public narrative because they lack faith in the Supreme Court. He further asserted that the Gandhi-Vadra family is placing themselves above the judiciary, citing an open letter signed by over 40 former judges that warns against a sustained campaign to sow distrust in statutory bodies.
Simultaneously, the Congress leadership remains defiant. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge, alongside Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, maintains that the protests are a necessary response to what they describe as a criminal conspiracy involving the Prime Minister and the Election Commission. Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government has hijacked constitutional processes, including the Special Intensive Revision exercise, and vowed that those responsible for what he termed 'vote chori' would eventually face justice. The tension remains centered on allegations of irregularities in voter list revisions, a dispute that has now moved from administrative offices to the public square.
