CBI Raid on Punjab CM Aide Sparks Political Firestorm

Sachin Pilot, the Congress in-charge for Punjab, described the discovery of file copies and WhatsApp chats as unprecedented evidence against the current administration. Speaking in Amritsar, Pilot urged a time-bound investigation to ensure public transparency regarding the alleged influence exerted over IAS and IPS transfers and property disputes. The CBI registered an FIR following accusations that public servants leaked confidential policy drafts to private individuals for financial gain.

Opposition leaders have seized on the development to attack the Aam Aadmi Party. BJP state president Sunil Kumar Jakhar characterized the administration as a group of non-state actors focused on extracting maximum profit during their term. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann dismissed the raids as a politically motivated tactic orchestrated by the BJP ahead of the 2027 assembly elections. The state government has moved to challenge the CBI’s authority in the Supreme Court, signaling a prolonged legal and political confrontation.
