Varanasi Hosts Namo Book Fest Marking Modi’s Quarter-Century in Office

Within the walls of the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre, a collection of 500 books marks a rare democratic milestone: 25 years of uninterrupted governance. The Namo Book Festival in Varanasi highlights the evolution of Narendra Modi’s career, spanning his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister to his current role as Prime Minister.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated the two-day exhibition on Thursday, framing the event as a tribute to the Prime Minister’s continuous service since October 7, 1999. Singh noted that the duration of Modi’s leadership—divided almost equally between his time in Gujarat and his national tenure—represents a unique achievement in global democratic history. The festival serves as a curated archive of this trajectory, showcasing literature that explores everything from early political influences to current governance reforms.

The displayed volumes delve into specific pillars of the administration, including shifts in foreign policy, national security strategies, and the government’s "Viksit Bharat 2047" vision. Beyond policy, the books examine the Prime Minister’s personal and political philosophy, reflecting the growing international interest in his leadership style. For the organizers, the event is an opportunity to connect with India’s younger generation, whom Singh described as increasingly aspirational due to the changing landscape of opportunities under the current administration.
