The Thursday lunch meeting, hosted by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, follows a crackdown on the previous day’s demonstration against Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the Special Intensive Revision process. During that protest, police intercepted the group near Jantar Mantar, leading to the detention of Rahul Gandhi at Barakhamba Road and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at Chhatrasal Stadium.
Delhi Police have initiated three FIRs regarding the incident, citing allegations of assault on officers, obstruction of government duties, and disorderly conduct. These filings explicitly name the Gandhis, yet Kharge remains defiant. He signaled that the opposition will persist in their efforts despite the legal pressure, stating on social media that such tactics would not deter their movement. With security forces on high alert across the capital, the political standoff shows no immediate sign of cooling.
