Priyanka Gandhi Demands Ouster of Government Amid Election Commission Row

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has issued a stark warning that India faces an existential threat unless the current administration is removed, citing a democratic crisis triggered by the Election Commission’s refusal to engage with the opposition over widespread allegations of vote theft and electoral roll manipulation.

Priyanka Gandhi Demands Ouster of Government Amid Election Commission Row

The call for regime change follows a heated confrontation in New Delhi, where over 300 opposition MPs were blocked by police from meeting with Election Commissioners. Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, attempted to march toward Jantar Mantar to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protest turned physical as security forces dismantled the demonstration, leading to the detention of key opposition figures, including the Gandhi siblings.

Priyanka Gandhi, who was removed from the protest site after lying on the ground in defiance, accused the government of cowardice and systematic suppression of dissent. She argued that the administration has abandoned its constitutional mandate, effectively turning the world’s largest democracy against its own citizens. Rahul Gandhi echoed these sentiments from detention, framing the ongoing standoff as a battle to protect the Constitution against what he described as an arrogant and dictatorial alliance between the government and the election body. The opposition bloc has vowed to continue its campaign, signaling that arrests and legal pressure will not deter their efforts to force accountability from the Election Commission.
