Modi marks quarter-century in government with Seva Jyoti celebration

Standing before a crowded Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on 25 years of uninterrupted executive service. The milestone, spanning his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and his three terms as Prime Minister, brought the NDA coalition together to honor a career defined by consecutive mandates.

The Prime Minister bowed before the gathering, crediting his longevity in office to the persistent faith of the electorate. Recalling his initial oath-taking on 7 October 2001, Modi noted that he stepped into the role of Gujarat’s Chief Minister without prior experience in elected office. He described that moment as the start of a journey he never expected to reach such a duration.

Throughout the Seva Jyoti event, Modi emphasized that public trust remains the primary engine of his governance. He dismissed personal political ambition as the driver of his career, instead pointing to the collective efforts of BJP and NDA colleagues. For the Prime Minister, the legacy of these 25 years rests on the work of party cadres and the support of millions, cementing a political path that transitioned from state-level administration to national leadership in 2014.
