Delhi Police Files FIR Against Opposition Leaders Over Akashvani Entry

The incident occurred on Tuesday when opposition figures attempted to march from Parliament House toward the Nirvachan Sadan headquarters. Authorities confirmed that no official permission had been granted for the procession. Upon being blocked by security cordons, the group shifted their demonstration to the nearby Akashvani Bhavan, occupying the area despite repeated police requests to vacate the site.

Demanding a meeting with Election Commission officials to address grievances regarding electoral roll revisions and the tenure of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the protesters refused to disperse. The standoff ended when police intervened, detaining approximately 260 individuals, including 10 members of parliament. These leaders were transported to New Police Lines at Kingsway Camp before their subsequent release. Law enforcement officials cited the need to maintain public order as the primary driver for the intervention and the subsequent filing of the FIR.
