The Chief Minister dismissed speculation that a recent National People’s Party meeting served as an emergency response to the shifting alliances, characterizing the gathering as standard internal coordination. With the NPP holding 33 seats, Sangma asserted that the party remains a stable force and that the recent migrations are localized shifts within the existing coalition rather than a move toward the opposition. He explicitly rejected reports of a rift between his party and the BJP, labeling such claims as entirely inaccurate.
While acknowledging that recent political volatility across the Northeast remains a concern for his leadership, Sangma emphasized the NPP’s continued commitment to the National Democratic Alliance. He stated that the party will maintain its support for NDA-led governments in Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur, regardless of individual ministerial outcomes or local political friction.
