The Chief Minister dismissed speculation that a recent gathering of National People’s Party (NPP) legislators served as an emergency response to shifting political loyalties. Instead, he characterized the meeting as a routine internal coordination exercise, emphasizing that his party remains unified. Addressing concerns about potential friction, Sangma labeled reports of a rift between the NPP and BJP as entirely incorrect, noting that his party maintains a stable majority with 33 seats in the assembly.
Sangma argued that recent realignments represent internal shifts among coalition partners rather than a move toward the opposition. While he acknowledged that shifting allegiances in neighboring states present a challenge, he insisted the current political dynamics do not threaten the stability of the MDA 2.0 government. He further reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to the National Democratic Alliance, pledging continued support for NDA-led administrations across the Northeast regardless of individual cabinet placements.
