Addressing the recent political shifts in Shillong, Sangma dismissed rumors of ministerial changes as unfounded. He clarified that the recent migration of lawmakers to the BJP has not prompted any emergency meetings within the National People’s Party, describing the gatherings as routine governance coordination. With 33 MLAs, the NPP remains the dominant force in the ruling coalition, and Sangma maintains that the government’s stability remains untouched by these individual constituency realignments.
While acknowledging that recent political volatility across the Northeast is a point of concern for his party, Sangma urged his organization to remain resilient. He also reaffirmed the NPP’s alliance with the National Democratic Alliance, pledging continued support for NDA governments in Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur, regardless of internal personnel pressures or shifts in legislative membership.
