Chandrasekhar dismissed the protest as a predictable Congress tactic, arguing that grievances regarding Election Commissioners should be handled strictly through judicial channels rather than public demonstrations. He specifically targeted Gandhi’s recent rhetoric, questioning why the opposition leader consistently predicts emergency-like conditions to incite unrest. According to the BJP leader, the move to mobilize crowds at Jantar Mantar or near the poll panel office represents an attempt to bypass established democratic adjudication.
Rahul Gandhi defended the demonstration as a constitutional right, noting that the opposition sought answers regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and modifications to Form 6. Despite being stopped by security, Gandhi insisted that the delegation of 300 MPs aimed only to engage with commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and his colleagues. While Delhi Police enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to manage the area, opposition leaders maintained their position, demanding transparency over the disputed electoral exercise that has drawn scrutiny from both political factions and the Supreme Court.
