PIB Debunks Rumors of Home Ministry Mediation in Congress Protest

A surge of social media misinformation claiming the Union Home Ministry reached out to Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to resolve their ongoing sit-in at Akashvani Bhavan has been officially debunked by the Press Information Bureau. The protest, targeting Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, remains unresolved as tensions mount.

Congress leaders continue to stage their demonstration after being blocked from marching to the Nirvachan Sadan, a move they frame as part of a wider 'Save Democracy' campaign against the Election Commission of India. While online rumors suggested a breakthrough negotiation, the party maintains that they will hold their ground until granted an audience with the commissioners regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Delhi Police have already detained several Youth Congress and NSUI members, including IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib, outside the site.

Rahul Gandhi intensified his rhetoric during the protest, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of undermining the electoral process. He questioned why the Election Commission refuses to engage with opposition MPs who represent millions of voters. In response, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju dismissed the protest as a 'daily drama,' urging the opposition to cease their attacks on constitutional institutions and focus instead on earning a democratic mandate.
