Owaisi Alleges Targeted Voter Deletion in Hyderabad's Goshamahal

A coordinated attempt to scrub 122 Muslim voters from electoral rolls in Hyderabad’s Goshamahal segment has sparked a confrontation between AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and local political actors. Owaisi claims pre-printed Form 7 applications were used in a deliberate effort to disenfranchise long-term residents at Booth Number 28.

Owaisi Alleges Targeted Voter Deletion in Hyderabad's Goshamahal

The Hyderabad MP presented evidence suggesting that Tudu Murty Janardhan, identified by Owaisi as a BJP supporter, spearheaded the bulk submission of applications to remove voters who have appeared on rolls since 2002. Among those targeted was 85-year-old Mirza Farooq Baig, a lifelong resident whose name appeared on the fraudulent deletion list despite decades of electoral participation.

This incident follows an October 5 memo from the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer, which warned district officials that fraudulent Form 7 filings were being used to manipulate voter lists. Owaisi is now pressuring the Election Commission of India to enforce Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, which mandates criminal penalties for false declarations. While the Booth Level Officer successfully intercepted these specific applications, Owaisi insists that a broader inquiry is necessary to stop what he describes as a targeted operation against the minority community.
