INDIA Bloc Launches Nationwide Protests Against Election Commission

Opposition parties are mounting a coordinated nationwide campaign to demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging systemic manipulation of electoral rolls. The INDIA bloc has organized protests in over a thousand districts, culminating in a planned march to the Election Commission headquarters in New Delhi this week.

Congress leader Motha Rohith confirmed that the coalition is escalating pressure following disputes over the Special Intensive Revision process, which the Opposition claims resulted in the illegal deletion of 13 crore voters. Demonstrations outside the Hyderabad Collectorate serve as a precursor to a larger march toward Lok Bhawan scheduled for October 8. Security forces, including the Rapid Action Force, have tightened cordons around Vijay Chowk to manage the influx of protesters.

While the Biju Janata Dal has joined the mobilization, the political landscape remains fractured; Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh confirmed his party will pursue its own strategy rather than joining the bloc’s march. Meanwhile, senior Congress figures, including K.C. Venugopal, labeled the poll body a 'Cheating Commission' and announced a follow-up 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao' campaign beginning October 10. Rahul Gandhi further intensified the rhetoric on social media, accusing Gyanesh Kumar of unilaterally altering Form 6 to benefit the ruling party.
