Kumari Selja, the Congress in-charge for Uttarakhand, explicitly requested that Rawat cancel the private tour. In an October 1 letter, she noted the program was organized without consultation with her or the state party president. Selja warned that such parallel initiatives undermine the party's cohesion during a critical pre-election window, citing concerns over recent controversial statements attributed to the former Chief Minister.
Rawat remains undeterred, framing the mission as a fight for the self-respect of Uttarakhand. On social media, he dismissed the internal pressure, describing the situation as an attempt at "keeping love under surveillance." As the caravan moves through Kashipur, Ramnagar, and Kaladhungi, the friction has escalated to the national level. KC Venugopal, the party’s General Secretary, has summoned Rawat to New Delhi to address the lack of coordination. While Rawat’s supporters insist the outreach is vital for reconnecting with voters, the leadership views his solo political maneuvers as a direct threat to party discipline.
